Player News

  • Keith Bulluck (OLB) TEN

    Updated 11/20/08 2:30 PM

Bulluck practiced Thursday for the first time since hurting a rib on Nov. 2.

Impacts: Bulluck cracked some cartilage holding a rib near his chest in the Titans' 19-16 overtime win Nov. 2 over Green Bay. He sat out practices but still played in wins at Chicago and at Jacksonville.

  • Adrian Peterson (RB) MIN

    Updated 11/20/08 2:09 PM

Peterson was held out of Thursday's practice. Coach Brad Childress says he decided the NFL's leading rusher needed a day to rest after taking plenty of hard hits in last week's game against Tampa Bay.

Impacts: This seems like a routine off day, and there's nothing to worry about regarding Peterson going into Sunday's game at Jacksonville. He's obviously a must-play every week, with 1,100 yards and seven touchdowns this season and the ability to put up huge numbers any given week.

  • Brady Quinn (QB) CLE

    Updated 11/20/08 11:54 AM

Quinn broke his right index finger in the first half of Monday night's win over Buffalo, but will try to play Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Impacts: Quinn played with the injury for most of the game and went 14-of-36 for 185 yards in his second career start and first on the road, but he did complete a pair of passes to set up Phil Dawson's winning 56-yard field goal with 1:39 left. It's tough to say how the injured finger will affect him this weekend, but he does have a nice matchup against the Texans. Opposing quarterbacks have a 100.8 rating against Houston this season.

  • Chad Mustard (TE) DEN

    Updated 11/20/08 11:54 AM

The Broncos placed Jackson on injured reserve Thursday, bringing back Mustard to take his place on the roster.

Impacts: Mustard, a fifth-year tight end from North Dakota, has been waived numerous times in his NFL career, most recently by Denver on Nov. 4. The 6-foot-6, 277-pound Mustard has played in three games for the Broncos this season.

  • Bryant McKinnie (T) MIN

    Updated 11/20/08 11:35 AM

McKinnie has a trial date in Miami set for March 16. He faces four charges stemming from his alleged involvement in a fight outside a nightclub in February.

Impacts: McKinnie's attorney, Larry Kerr, appeared in Miami-Dade County court Tuesday. McKinnie was not required to attend.

  • Kellen Winslow (TE) CLE

    Updated 11/20/08 11:35 AM

Winslow will have an MRI on his right shoulder after injuring it in the closing minutes of Monday night's win over the Buffalo bills.

Impacts: Winslow was hurt when he was tackled in front of Buffalo's bench while making a 16-yard reception that set up Cleveland's game-winning field goal. The five-year veteran, who has had numerous injuries during his career, was driven to the ground by Bills linebacker Paul Posluszny and came up wincing in pain.

  • Abdul Hodge (LB) CIN

    Updated 11/20/08 11:35 AM

Hodge has been placed on injured reserve with an arm injury.

Impacts: This will end his season. Hodge appeared in six games for Cincinnati.

  • Jabari Greer (CB) BUF

    Updated 11/20/08 11:35 AM

Greer hurt his knee in the second quarter of Buffalo's game against the Cleveland Browns on Monday night.

Impacts: It's not clear how Greer was hurt, but it likely happened when Greer made a tackle stopping Braylon Edwards on an 18-yard catch. Greer has been Buffalo's most dependable cornerback this season, with 42 tackles, a team-leading nine passes defensed and two interceptions, which he's both returned for touchdowns. With Greer out, the Bills went with a rookie rotation involving first-round pick Leodis McKelvin and fourth-pick Reggie Corner.

  • Shaun Smith (DE) CLE

    Updated 11/20/08 11:35 AM

Smith did not return after aggravating a calf injury while tackling Marshawn Lynch on the Bills' first possession of the third quarter.

Impacts: He was limping as he left the field and went immediately to the Browns' locker room. Smith was initially hurt in the first half.

  • Jonas Jennings (T) SF

    Updated 11/20/08 11:35 AM

The 49ers placed Jennings on injured reserve Tuesday for the third time in his four seasons with the club.

Impacts: Jennings underwent surgery Tuesday on his dislocated right shoulder, which has kept him out of action since it occurred in Week 2 against Seattle. He dressed but didn't play in the 49ers' (3-7) past two games, and the club eventually decided to scrap another season for a $36 million tackle who has missed 35 games with injuries since signing with San Francisco in 2005.

  • Earnest Graham (RB) TB

    Updated 11/20/08 11:35 AM

Graham will miss the remainder of the season after injuring his right ankle during last week's victory over the Minnesota Vikings. He limped off the field on his only carry, which went for 3 yards.

Impacts: Graham was leading Tampa Bay with 563 yards on 132 carries and scored four touchdowns. He had a career-best 898 yards and scored 10 times on 222 attempts. He also caught 49 passes for 324 yards. With Graham out, Warrick Dunn moves into the featured tailback role and Carnell Williams will be the backup.
