  • Harry Williams (WR) HOU

    For the first time since injuring his neck and spine last week, Williams has walked by himself.

    Impacts: He suffered a cracked vertebrate and severe ligament damage in his neck Aug. 22 during a preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. Williams told the station, "I started walking today. I brushed my own teeth today, sat up in a chair today, fed myself today. ... I'm doing good man." Doctors say its unlikely he'll be able to play football again, something the 26-year-old says he accepts.

  • Jayme Mitchell (DE) MIN

    Mitchell is on injured reserve and out for the season with a knee injury.

    Impacts: Mitchell played in 10 games last year, totaling five tackles.

  • Mike Jones (G) MIN

    Jones was placed on injured reserve by the Vikings due to a shoulder problem, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.

    Impacts: Jones, who went undrafted out of Iowa, hasn't yet played in an NFL game.

  • Barry Stokes (OT) NE

    The Patriots put Stokes on the reserve-injured list with a back injury.

    Impacts: The veteran, signed by the Patriots earlier this month, was signed, cut and signed again by Detroit last season, but didn't see any action. He has also played for Miami, Cleveland, Green Bay and Atlanta.

  • James Reed (DT) NO

    Reed was placed on injured reserve by the Saints with a torn Achilles' tendon.

    Impacts: Reed only played in four games for the Chiefs last year, and was released. He had started 15 games the previous season.

  • Adam Jones (DB) DAL

    Jones has been cleared to play for the Dallas Cowboys this season.

    Impacts: The cornerback-kick returner was suspended all last season, when he was with the Tennessee Titans, because of an accumulation of arrests and legal problems. He was traded to the Cowboys in April, then allowed by commissioner Roger Goodell to join the team in training camp and in preseason games. Goodell, however, was still waiting to decide whether to let Jones play in the regular season. That news came Thursday, hours before Dallas' final preseason game.

  • Jon Bradley (FB) DET

    The Lions placed Bradley on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

    Impacts: Bradley started six games last year, seeing action in 15 contests.

  • Heath Farwell (LB) MIN

    Farwell will miss the rest of the season after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament against the Seahawks.

    Impacts: Farwell, a three-year veteran, was voted special teams MVP by teammates and led the team in special teams tackles over the past two seasons.

  • John Bowie (CB) OAK

    Oakland placed Bowie on injured reserve with a season-ending knee injury. Bowie did not play at all this preseason due to the injury, the latest setback for the player acquired in the Randy Moss deal a year ago.

    Impacts: The Raiders selected Bowie with the fourth-round pick they got from New England for Moss last year. He played just two games as a rookie and now is out for his entire second season. Moss had 98 catches for 1,493 yards and an NFL-record 23 touchdowns for the Patriots last season.

  • Prescott Burgess (LB) BAL

    The Ravens placed Burgess on injured reserve with a wrist injury.

    Impacts: The linebacker also spent part of last year - his rookie season - on IR with a hip problem. He was drafted in the sixth round in 2007.

  • Kelly Talavou (NT) BAL

    The Ravens placed Talavou on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

    Impacts: Talavou, an undrafted free agent in 2007, has spent time with Atlanta and Seattle, but has not played in an NFL game. He will miss the season.

  • Terrence Melton (LB) BAL

    The Ravens placed Melton on injured reserve with a hand injury.

    Impacts: He also spent all of last year on IR with a knee injury.
